Money Saving Tips For Your Move
1. If needed, reserve parking for the moving truck as close to your front door as possible at both your current home and your new home. The farther they have to carry, the longer the move will take to complete. (In the winter, please make sure the driveways and walkways are shoveled and salted.)
2. Have everything packed and ready to go when the movers arrive! Anything that is not packed upon arrival will have to be packed by you, the movers or taken to your new home in your personal vehicle. Make sure all items are off end tables, night stands, etc. (Professional packing services are available.)
3. Set up a staging area closest to the front door (or garage) for the boxes. Have the boxes clearly marked as to which room they will need to be unloaded. Organize the boxes by room they will be unloaded into at your new home.
4. If there will be more than one delivery location, make sure the items are clearly marked so the movers can load the truck according to the stops. (1st stop will be the last loaded on the truck.)
5. Make sure there is a clear path to the front door.
6. Pack accent pillows, blankets, etc. in a box.
7. Remove all bedding from the beds. Pack the bedding in boxes.
8. Have all items such as cribs, large exercise equipment, swing sets, sheds, trampolines, etc. disassembled.
9. Have lawn mower drained of gasoline & make sure garage items are packed such as garden hoses, small tools, items on storage shelves/cabinets and tape large garden tools together in bunches – rakes, shovels, etc.
10. Disconnect all appliances and electronic devices. Make sure the cords are secure.
11. Have the rooms in your new home clearly marked so the movers can quickly unload the furniture and boxes into the correct rooms.
