Full Service Moving

Local Moving Experts
Frontier Van Lines is a fully licensed and insured local mover. (We are also a fully licensed and insured long distance mover!) Our service, honesty and customer commitment have made Frontier Van Lines one of the top local movers in Pittsburgh and surrounding counties. To review our references, please click here.

Local movers in PA are required to be licensed in the county/counties in which they pick up and deliver. Just as you would not use an unlicensed plumber to do repairs in your home, you wouldn't want to use an unlicensed mover to move your possessions.

Pittsburgh movers’ licensed territories vary greatly. Frontier Van Lines has the largest number of county licenses in the Western PA area due to our expertise and quality service. We are licensed as:

Allegheny County Movers - Beaver County Movers - Butler County Movers - Washington County Movers - Westmoreland County Movers

We scale our moving services for all sizes of moves such as large homes, small homes, townhouses, condos, apartments and offices.

Our Services
We can help you with just moving furniture around the house or business to fully packing and transporting your home or business to a new location. Frontier Van Lines also provides professional packing services and storage solutions. These services can be customized to meet any budget and your Relocation Consultant will help you choose which solution works best for your move.

Pricing – Frontier Van Lines is one of the most affordable movers in Pittsburgh and surrounding counties. It is important to Frontier Van Lines that you understand what you are paying for before your move. In a standard local move, the charges can be broken down into 5 different components as follows:

1. Labor – The labor is the price you are paying for the movers to physically move your items. The time begins when the movers arrive at your current location and continues until the delivery is completed at your new location. The labor rate is charged on an hourly basis. The hourly rates are dependent on the number of professional movers and the number of trucks your move requires.

Frontier Van Lines charges in increments of 15 minutes. For example, if your move starts at 8:00 am and it ends at 12:10 pm, you are charged for 4 hours and 15 minutes instead of 5 hours. Your Relocation Consultant will work with you to determine the size of a crew you need, an approximate time it will take to complete your move and our minimum charges.

Services included in the labor rate are as follows:

  • Free use of moving pads.

  • Disassembly and reassembly of your beds and furniture

  • Loading and carefully securing your belongings onto the truck.

  • Unloading and placing your items where you desire in your new home.

  • Free basic valuation for your belongings of 60 cents per pound per item. Valuation is NOT full replacement value insurance. Please see our 5 Golden Rules for more information on valuation versus full replacement insurance. For full replacement insurance please check with your home owners insurance or visit www.bakerintl.com.

  • First time customers receive 4 FREE wardrobe boxes for use during the move. Each box can fit up to 40 hangers. The movers will bring these boxes the day of your move.

2. Travel Time – The travel time is the time it takes our movers to reach your pick up address from our warehouse and the time it takes to return to our warehouse after the move is completed. The travel time is calculated at the end of the move and is documented on your paperwork. This is a standard moving charge.

3. Packing Materials – All of our professional movers are also professional packers. The foreman assigned to your move is responsible to ensure all items are properly packed. In order to safely transport your fragile items that require professional packing, the foreman will review those charges with you. Please understand that if you decline the professional packing and are unable to pack it yourself, Frontier Van Lines will not be able to transport that item.

4. Fuel Surcharge - The Commonwealth of PA requires all licensed local moving companies to collect a fuel surcharge for all local moves. This charge is a flat fee based on the distance between the pick up location and the delivery location for moves within Pennsylvania. Rates change monthly depending on the price of fuel. For interstate moves there is a different formula to calculate the fuel surcharge. Your Relocation Consultant will inform you what the fuel surcharge will be for your move.

5. Tolls – Tolls are a chargeable item for local moves. Please note that not all moves require toll charges.
